Before You Start: Important ChatGPT Quirks

ChatGPT has some limitations:

  • You must enable Developer Mode FIRST (required for connectors)

  • You must select Intangle from the + button at the start of EVERY chat

  • You must approve tools in EVERY new chat (it doesn't persist)

These are ChatGPT limitations, not Intangle. If you want a smoother experience, consider [Claude Desktop] instead.

Why Connect ChatGPT?

  • Works on desktop and mobile - Access Intangle from your phone

  • No API key needed - OAuth authentication

  • Requires manual selection each chat

  • 3 minute setup

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode (Required)

This is required - unfortunately you cannot add connectors to ChatGPT right now without Developer Mode enabled, hopefully this will change soon.

Quick:

  1. Press Cmd + . Or Windows + . to enable developer mode

Slow:

  1. Open ChatGPT (Web app only https://chatgpt.com)

  2. Go to Settings -> Connectors & Apps -> Advanced (at the bottom)

  3. Find and enable "Developer Mode"

Step 2: Add Intangle Connector

  1. Still in Settings, select "Add Connector"

  2. When prompted, you only need to enter the name and URL:

Name: Intangle

Description: Intelligent memory system (optional but recommended)

Step 3: Authorize in Browser

  1. You'll be redirected to your browser (or in-app browser on mobile)

  2. You'll see the Intangle authorization page

  3. Click "Allow" to give ChatGPT (controlled) access to your Intangle memory

  4. Return to ChatGPT

Step 4: Connection Complete!

The connector is now added. But remember: you must manually select it in each new chat (see next section).

How to Use It in Each Chat

At the start of EVERY new chat:

  1. Click the + button (next to the message input)

  2. Select Sources -> Intangle from the list

  3. ChatGPT will ask you to approve the tools - click "Approve"

  4. Now you can use Intangle in this chat

Note: Yes, you have to do this every time. This is a ChatGPT limitation (for now).

Example Usage

Once you've selected Intangle in a chat, talk naturally:

Saving information:

  • "Remember that I prefer Vue over React"

  • "Save to my Personal space: My favorite coffee shop is Blue Bottle"

  • "Create a task to research new database options"

Searching your memory:

  • "What do I have saved in Intangle about databases?"

  • "Search my work space for meeting notes"

  • "Show me my pending tasks"

Viewing your spaces:

  • "What Intangle spaces do I have?"

  • "List my topics in the Learning space"

Verify Your Connection

After selecting Intangle in a new chat, ask:

> "Can you list my Intangle spaces?"

If ChatGPT responds with your space names, you're connected!

Troubleshooting

I don't see Developer Mode in Settings

Developer Mode is only enabled in the web app and only available on:

- ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise accounts

- Some recent versions of the ChatGPT app

Make sure you're using the latest version and have a paid account.

ChatGPT says it doesn't have access to Intangle

Did you remember to:

1. Enable Developer Mode?

2. Select Intangle from the + button in this specific chat?

3. Approve the tools when prompted?

You must do all three for each new chat.

The + button doesn't show Intangle

  1. Go back to Settings and verify the connector is added

  2. Try removing and re-adding the connector

  3. Make sure you completed the OAuth authorization

Still stuck?

  1. Contact us (using the support button in the bottom-right corner)

  2. Include any of these if you can:

  • What error message you're seeing

  • Screenshots of your connector settings

  • Which platform (Desktop, Mobile iOS, Mobile Android)
